Just thought I'd let you folks know in case any of you have similar issues. Now I'm able to play Falcon and LHX the way it was meant to be played. I cheered and raised my hands in victory I was so happy that I was able to fix it with such a simple solution (no pun intended). Voi-fucking-La! It worked when I plugged it in. I had about given up my joystick for dead when, upon closer inspect, I noticed that the inner connectors on the USB plug looked a bit tarnished to the point where you could barely see themĪs a last ditch effort, thinking there's no way this would work, I gently cleaned the USB connect with an alcohol wipe and a toothpick. Many suggestions pretty much ended in a dead end. Recommendations suggesting clearing out devices in registry abound but nothing worked for me. I tried plugging it into different USB ports nothing.Ī Google search brings up multiple hits about Sidewinder joysticks suddenly "dying" on Win7 and above. Then when I decided to fire up games like LHX or Falcon I noticed it wasn't working which then made me bring up device / gamepad control panel and noticed it wasn't even being detected. In fact it's been connected to a USB port in the back thinking nothing of it. I recently wanted to dabble again with some old school sims in DosBox and I've had my trusty Microsoft Sidewinder Precision 2 joystick on my desk for months (it doubles as a handy headset holder for my Logitech headset) but never used it. I'm not sure where to post this since I only ever use my Precision 2 for old school gaming like DOS simulators (Falcon 3.0 and LHX ftw), so I figure I'd post it here.
